The CFTRI School was established in the year 1964 with a purpose to provide education to the children of the
employees of the institute. The school was started in a small way and now it is open for general public and has grown to a new height.
The school was founded in the year 1964 to cater the educational requirements of the employees of CFTRI. The parents of the students
were also actively involved in the academic work of the school in the begiining. Later in 1970, the management of the school which
was hitherto in the hands of the founder member was taken over by the CFTRI Education Society. Since then the CFTRI Education society
is striving hard in providing all kinds of support to the school in the academic side as well as infrastructural needs.
The growth of the school was rapid right from the beginning. There was a steady increase in the enrolment of students and proportionately
there were changes in the staff pattern too. It was in the year 1976-77 that High school classes were started which seemed to be inevitable
with the existing language pattern of the school and the steady increase in the numerical strength. The first batch of X Std students appeared
for the SSLC Examination in the year 1979.
The school is housed in a modern building with all the necessary facilities provided by CFTRI. The total students strength is about 1220
drawn from all strata of the society. There are 20 class rooms, staff room, seminar hall, library, science lab, computer lab, art room,
sport room and map room.
The nursery section is housed in a separate wing.
School offers a comprehensive course of study based on the Karnataka state syllabus Standards. Along with regular academic subjects, the
students learn life and livelihood skills, including team work, presentation skills, leadership and problem solving through formal
and co-curricular activities. Various co-curricular actiivties like sports and games, literary activities, cultural activities, activities
promoting scientific temparament, excursion, karate and music, band training, cubs, scouts & guides, NCC (Naval wing for boys and army wing for girls).
The school has been able to maintain good academic standards with a faculty of experienced and dedicated teachers. The school has the unique
distinction in recurring 98 to 100 percent resultsin X standard public examination all these years.
