The CFTRI school was established in the year 1964 with a purpose to provide education to the children of employees of the institute. The school was started in small way and now it is open for the general public and follows the theme "Sarvashikshana Abhiyana" meaning 'Education for all' and has been able to reach the zenith of progress and achievement in the all-round development of the students.

The school is located within the scenic beauty of the CFTRI campus which is about 3 km away from the heart of the heritage city of Mysuru, free from the noise and din. The site is a paragon of blissful serenity and has an inspiring ambience. CFTRI school follows the Karnataka state syllabus. The school celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 1990. Having a history of development and experience, the school aims to provide quality education and an over-all development to all its students. It is a co-ed, English medium school and the school’s motto is "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER".
